BRADY MAYO INTERVIEW

PLAYGUY MAGAZINE INTERVIEWS BRADY MAYO

by Doug Repetti, Managing Editor, Playguy and Inches Magazines

How long have you been doing erotic photography?

I started doing shooting “twinks” in 2002 for PLAYGUY and haven’t
slowed down since.

What made you want to get into the business?

I got into the business because a lot of my friends are male dancers,
escorts and porn stars. I love sluts! I started taking pictures of my
exhibitionist friends and they encouraged me to get them published. I
studied video production and photography in college, so producing gay
porn movies seemed like a dream occupation.

Please recount your early experiences with gay porn and your feelings
about it.

I worked in a few adult video stores in San Francisco when I was 18, so
I got introduced to gay porn in the arcades and preview booths. I knew
a lot of hot guys who were modeling and having fun doing it. I then
decided I wanted to make my own porn movies with the kind of models I
fantasized about: fresh college-aged men with huge dicks! I started
videotaping the guys I was having sex with and got real good at it.

When you’re deciding whom to pair for a sex scene, what type of things
do you take into consideration?

For the most part, I let my models choose who they want to pair up with
in a scene. Then I encourage them to rehearse! About 95 percent of my
models are fresh off the bus. If the chemistry isn’t perfect between
two models, the scene won’t generate heat. My job is to highlight the
best physical qualities of each model.

Most of the scenes are typically filmed outdoors or in a cabin. Can you
tell us why?

Sex in the wild outdoors is more fun and spontaneous. I find the
hottest models and try to shoot them in the best backdrops. Sometimes
the hottest sex doesn’t always take place in a hotel room. If we shoot
a scene inside, it’s probably because it’s nighttime or the weather is
nasty!

Tell us about the atmosphere on set.

The atmosphere on set is pretty casual and fun. If the model is not
having fun, it won’t work for the camera. I insist on working alone so
the models can develop a real connection with the camera. We have a
good time and work at our own pace.

In the photos you took of Mitch Hart and KC Morgan, there’s a lot of
palpable chemistry.

Mitch Hart and KC Morgan were real-life boyfriends at the time of the
shoot. They had only been dating for three nights, but they were very
affectionate and physical with each other. This was one of the easiest
photo shoots I’d ever shot, because there was a lot of passion between
the two anyway.

Do you just let the guys just do their thing and start filming or do
you find yourself having to stop the action to direct them?

I usually work with the models to come up with a role-playing scenario
that makes the scene hot. There is always some direction, but I try to
minimize the interruptions whenever possible. The scene I shot with
Blaine Black and Kaden in a stream for PHYS-ED BUTT BULLIES was a
blast! They were suggesting their own ideas and the scene worked
perfectly!

It must be torturous to watch all these cute guys getting it on all
day. Do you ever end up having sex with any of the models?

It is torture to watch all these hot guys and still hold the camera
still! I meet a lot of defined guys with talent. I don’t have sex with
my models, but if it helps the situation, sometimes I will shoot them
naked. I wouldn’t ask my models to do anything that I wouldn’t.

Who comes up with the models’ stage names?

Usually, the model comes up with a stage name that he is cool with. If
he needs any help, I use the old formula of a model’s middle name and
the street they grew up on. It may be cliché, but it usually works.

What are some common problems that might crop up during a shoot?

The usual problems I encounter on set are usually weather related or
from onlookers trying to get on the action. Buy the video, buddy!

Give us an anecdote about something that happened unexpectedly on set
that you were forced to deal with.

I was on the set of Jr. Hottie Sports Club. In the middle of shooting a
three-way on private property, I turned my head and saw the sheriff’s
cruiser stop about 50 feet away and park in our shot. Luckily, nothing
happened. We continued shooting until the cruiser drove off, but we
lost a few boners during the interruption.

What advice would you give to someone just starting out in the adult
modeling industry?

If you want to start modeling, stay in shape. Have as much fun as you
can. Break in that boi cherry, make a lot of money and keep your head
above water.
